Your privacy is important to me. This privacy policy explains how I collect, use and protect any personal information you provide when contacting or working with Mandy Marty Counselling.

I aim to handle your information with care and in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, as well as the ethical guidelines of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

  • basic information you choose to share when making an enquiry

  • limited notes relating to counselling sessions

This information is collected when you:

  • contact me through the website contact form

  • email or phone to make an enquiry

  • attend counselling sessions

How your information is used

Your information is used only to:

  • respond to your enquiry

  • arrange and provide counselling sessions

  • maintain brief counselling records

  • manage appointments and communication

I do not use your information for marketing purposes and I do not share your information with third parties unless required for legal or safeguarding reasons.

Confidentiality

Counselling is confidential. Information shared in sessions will not normally be disclosed to anyone else.

However, there are rare circumstances where confidentiality may need to be broken, including:

  • if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others

  • safeguarding concerns involving children or vulnerable adults

  • if required by law or court order

Where possible, this would be discussed with you.

How your information is stored

Personal information and counselling notes are stored securely and accessed only by me.

Electronic records are stored on password-protected devices and systems, and paper records (if used) are kept in a secure location.

Counselling records are normally kept for up to 7 years after the end of therapy, in line with professional guidance, after which they are securely destroyed.

Your rights

Under data protection law, you have the right to:

  • request access to the personal information I hold about you

  • request that inaccurate information is corrected

  • request that your information is deleted in certain circumstances
